Margie Dean :

I met Claire in 6th Grade at Holy Inn and even back then she was larger then life and way too cool for me to hang out with so we were never in the same circle. Respected by the boys as well as some afraid of her and the girls loved being around her because she was so funny. She had the knack of making fun of you and you would wind up laughing along with her because it was so funny. Her made-up words like “yeesh” carried from Holy Inn into LF and I bet there is not one person who didn't use the word or hear it one time or another throughout Juniata Park and Wildwood. Her laugh was infectious and had the nicest smile to go along with it. Everyone knows that Claire was the coolest one out there. I always think of Claire on October 10th every year. I don't know if that's her anniversary of her passing or her funeral, but it affected me greatly and I will never forget it. I can only imagine that Heaven was missing laughter and needed Claire to keep it alive and fun because that's what she was on earth. To me, it's the only way to comprehend such a travesty to her classmates from both Holy Inn, Little Flower and Juniata Park. She's probably been standing right next to St. Peter these past twenty years at the Golden Gates saying, “Check it out…Yeesh!” with her hand over her mouth trying to hide her laughter. Classic Claire and as always, unforgettable! Fun time with Claire at the Talk of the Town having the DJ playing Deborah Harry's Rapture over, over and over again! Her making her entrance at our 8th Grade Dance with her hands straight up the air showing off her red nail polish... Making fun of Patti Young at our 8th Grade Holy Inn Reunion because of her hair beads hitting her in the face while dancing and standing with Frassee at the back bar making fun of everyone...

Dottie Kauterman:

3 things that make me smile when I think of Claire
fun late night trips to Wildwood
cocktails anyone???
great fun in the green gremlin!

Frasse:

Wow, where to start - so many funny times. Claire was with me in 1978 when I stole the Discipline Sign from Little Flower. We told no-one until after I graduated and then we took that sign to every bar in Wildwood all summer. (Got us a lot of free drinks). Claire was/is my son Jason's Godmother. When he was small he would call her Aunt "Foolish". Kids loved Claire, she always made them laugh and had candy. Claire was an Officer at Little Flower and in her Senior year she represented the school to welcome the POPE to Philadelphia... I was so proud of her. A good friend once told me that it's quality not quanity - not how much time you have, but what you do with it.. Claire Fox was a quality person, who touched so many, in such a short time. I think of Claire every day and I am so glad to have known her.

Donna Spud:

I can remember playing soccer with Claire. One of the best goalies we had back in the day. The way she would go after the ball was always fun to watch since the ball got passed me and now it was up to Claire to save. Her laugh was one of a kind. We shared many a drinks and lots of laughs.
Next was our basketball times at Holy Inn and Juniata. Once again she gave it her all. Enjoyed playing and she was good at it.
Thanks for the memeories Claire!!!

Jeff Kane:

Claire Fox was a piece of work. She was a unique person beyond description. It has been almost twenty years now but I think of Claire every day.
The Fox gang contained a few characters and I think Claire picked up alot from her older siblings. She could gamble like Matt, drink like, well she could drink like all of them, and spoke a language the Foxes invented.
We are all worse off for losing her so soon.

Alyssa Townsend:

I was 8 when my Aunt/Godmother passed but I still have some great memories of her, like the time she randomly picked my cousin Andy and I up and put us on plane for a weeks vacation in Disney; or the time that her, my mom and all the gals had their weekend trip in Wildwood and I was down there with my Dad who took me over to visit the wildness that was going on and my Aunt Claire was throwing 20 dollar bills over the railing to me......I remember making at least 100 bucks that day. I love the stories and it's so nice to see how loved she was by everyone.

Jeff Paxson:

When I think of Claire I would best describe her to others as a Crocodile Dundee version. She had her unique style, language, and all enjoyed her personality. Claire's fine memories will never be forgotten.

Classic Claire

Denise Driscoll:

Who else but Claire could get a cabbie to drive her to Wildwood for the LF day @ the Red Garter. I'm a couple of years older than Claire but she hung w/ EVERYONE -- I remember one time down the shore Claire, Mary Grant and Grace Dovell going to the Fairview - some people yelled at them and called Grace "Disco: when that didn't get a rise, they chucked eggs at them - too bad for them they hit Claire. She proceeds to climb up on the porch and beat up the girls and their boyfriends!!! When she yelled to Mary & Grace for help their answer "we don't fight" pissed her off big time!! She came in the Fairview all messed up w/ Mary & Grace still looking like a million bucks!! She downed a few and called them a few choice words!! But in true Claire style she'd never stay mad!! CLASSIC CLAIRE -- OH MY SOY!!!

Billy DeFazio:

I'll never forget one time on the corner (M & Lycoming) standing outside the hardware store Clair and I were in a little disagreement when she said somthing like Yo Bill! Yeesh! how would you like if I pull your bottom lip up over your head! Got it! Good!

John Kane:

Claire used to scare the "SHIT" out of me. She was a classic! Her wit was her charm and her sword! She spoke more with her silence than her words. She will never be forgotten by those who LOVED her and FEARED her!!! None will ever fill those boots!

Mike:

My Claire story......A bunch of us went to a club one night. The bouncer told her that she was not allowed in because she had her sneakers on. So, she did what only Claire would do....She took them off. And yes, he let us in. Claire Fox was a whitty, caring and fun loving young lady who is sadly missed but never forgotten.

Grace (Carr) Stone:

Claire was a good friend. We spent a summer on Garfield Ave in Wildwood one year, and there are so many stories. I can't remember them all. From putting every piece of clothing on to go over to the disco bar across the street, busting in just to do tumble salts until they kicked us out, to working at the Radisson in North Wildwood and sleeping while my Mom did all of our rooms. One time after an afternoon at the Shamrock we were put to bed early. But she woke up and we proceeded to go to the Red Garter Claire in her PJ's, still drunk. There are so many other stories I could go on and on, from the shore to LF. Thanks again

School Days

Eileen Kane Mullen:

I have so many Claire stories swirling around in my head, from 1st grade all through high school and beyond. I will share two with you. Claire & I were the pretzel girls in either 7th or 8th grade. We used to go in the old building at HI and count the pretzels and juice out for each homeroon. We would lick each pretzel to get off all the salt and hide a couple of pretzels for us... both from big families we never had pretzel & juice money. The kids would complain that there was no salt on the pretzel, and me and Claire would be like MINCOCHIN BEGGIN!!!!!!!!! Second, we went on a ski trip up in Syracuse, circa 1983 or 1984, Claire, Rita, & Alice. Enough said. However, Claire didn't feel like wearing shoes all weekend, so guess what, she did'nt. Walked all over the place the entire weekend without shoes on. And got in a drag out kick ass fight with her sisters. And everyone there was too scared to break it up. One last thing, Claire could punt a soccer ball to the 50 yard line, no problem. Loved the girl to death, miss her everyday, she was TRULY a special friend to so many people. Oh my God, I almost forgot, we were getting year book pictures done for LF and some of the girls were like, Claire, let us do your make-up, the girl was STUNNING, and she didn't even know it. She looked in the mirror, saw herself, and was embarassed by how beautiful she was. She was beautiful inside and out. I'll think of some more and get back to you all.

Chris Nealy:

Claire Fox was a chaperone on our "Get to know your new school Day" I was an 8th grader and Clair was a few years older. I remember when she stepped off the bus she was mugged and they stole her chains off of her neck. She chased the unfortunate guys down (right into a house) she beat the crap out of all of them and came back with her jewelry...laughing of course...I will never forget that. Welcome to Little Flower girls is all she said!!!

Jeanne McHugh:

My brother Bobby called me to say there was a tribute to Claire and I am so proud to honor her memory. We always shared the same birthday and turn 45 on January 26,2007! I have so many memories of the great times and the laughter that was shared. One of my stories is when I put on my sister Maureen's uniform and visited for a day to Little Flower (I went to a business school). Claire and I had lunch together and we since we laughed so much because I didn't belong to the school we got detention which made it even funnier. She helped me into other classes and I didn't get noticed till the very last class in which the teacher let me participate but was not very happy which again made us laugh so much more! Claire will always be missed and loved. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR DEAR FRIEND
